BAGUETTE
Wow, a French baguette, how original...
Wait, a baguette from an automatic baguette dispenser?! It's ideal for when you need bread after 5pm when all the bakeries are closed haha.
Posing with my new baguette friend who came from the ingenious machine above.
MEATS
Pig's ears? Ahhh... These mini dried sausages with roquefort and nuts are great though!
CHEESES
The P'tit Louis are kind of like a softer, creamier Babybel. They're in little plastic things instead of the waxed casings. I thing the wax is easier to open than these were, haha. And P'tit Basque cheese! It's made in the region around the border of France and Spain and is made with sheep's milk. It is similar to manchego, one of my favorites, but typically isn't aged quite as long and is not PDO protected. If you are lucky, sometimes you can buy a whole wheel of it at Costco!
Escargolo - yes it's a play on escargot. I would compare it to the French version of string cheese, except it is flat and rolled. You can still pull it apart into strings!
COLD THINGS
This raspberry triamisu is fantastic! Why are there not more with a raspberry base? And these salad kits make a great lunch. Not only do they have a salad, but they also have crackers with dip and a little tart (that's more like a cookie irl)! It's practically an adult lunchable, and I am here for it. Some of them even come with an edible fork!
CANS AND JARS
Yep, you can straight up by a jar of duck fat; it's not small either! I'd never seen kiwi peach jam before, so there's a first time for everything.
These little shelf-stable meals aren't too bad, although the pasta ones get kind of mushy from the processing. The containers themselves make excellent tupperware though! From the American aile, the worst thing... Jarred hot dogs... Why??
American style calamari... whatever that means...? And some canned lychee, which I don't think the French eat a ton of...?
PASTA
Who would say no to tiny fortune cookie-shaped pasta? Crozets are much more of a Swiss thing and are little buckwheat square-shaped pasta. They're usually used to make gratin or a cheesy-baked dish. The French angle hair pasta is all broken! Noooo!! And look at how tiny these itty-bitty macaronis are, adorable!
SWEETS
Salted caramel in a giant squeeze tube - yes please!
Tiny waffle wafers and crispy crepe-like wafers dipped in dark chocolate!
Some fun cereals and brownies!
SNACKS
Pizza crackers! Yes!!! From a marketing standpoint, I thought these salt and vinegar chips were cool. In the US, we have a blue background and white or red wine vinegar, while this French variety has a pink background and balsamic vinegar. I think it's interesting that the first thought of vinegar for American consumers is much different when compared to the French. Kind of neat!
OTHER SHELF ITEMS
Secret de creme... Tell me your secrets! Why do you have secrets?! And some Frozen Knorr chicken soup! Yep, they have that here too!
